As the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak escalates inside the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Uganda can be ticking all the boxes to ensure which the country can be able to respond effectively should there be a confirmed case of Ebola inside the country. As of 13th November 2018, there were 295 confirmed cases with 209 death along with also also still counting.
Therefore, which week, the Ministry of Health with support via the planet Health Organization (WHO) trained health workers on the Great Clinical Practice (GCP) course. which can be designed to prepare health workers to conduct clinical trials with human participants. which can be an ethical along with also also scientific quality control course which prepares participants to design, conduct, perform, monitor, audit, record, analyze along with also also report on clinical trials.
The GCP course can be important inside the ongoing vaccination exercise because which protects the rights, safety along with also also welfare of health workers to be vaccinated, minimizes human exposure to investigational products along with also also improves quality of data collection along with also also compilation. Compliance with the standard provides public assurance which the rights, safety along with also also well-being of the health workers are protected.
inside the on-going vaccination exercise, a total of 97 health workers were immunized in Ntoroko district, last week. which week, 659 frontline health care workers including volunteers working at border points of entry will be immunized in Kasese District.
Despite minor operational challenges, the exercise can be going on well along with also also was well received by the district leaders along with also also health workers. In many ways, which vaccination exercise can be a “first” for Uganda in which the country can be the first inside the planet to deploy the EVD vaccine even before which registers an individual case.
which first phase of the vaccination exercises will be done in 5 high-risk districts. More districts will be added inside the second phase after assessment along with also also upon receipt of more vaccine doses.
The team which undertook the GCP course comprised of health professionals including medical officers, public health professionals, nurses, clinical officers, midwives, health promotion along with also also education officers plus logistics management officers. These were drawn via high-risk districts along with also also university or nursing institutions.
