The Kenya Meteorological Department, in its latest weather forecast covering the period between February 28 as well as also March 3 has warned of which most parts of the country will receive heavy rainfall of more than 50mm Wednesday through Saturday.
According to a statement sent to newsrooms on Tuesday, the rains will be more widespread as well as also heavier in some areas on Friday as well as also Saturday.
Peter Ambenje, head of meteorological department, said Nairobi, Central Kenya, Embu, Nyeri, as well as also Tharaka will be the first to experience showers.
On Tuesday night, parts of Thika Road, Langata as well as also its vicinity experienced rains all through the night.
“Afternoon showers as well as also thunderstorms are expected over few places on Wednesday increasing to several places to thereafter,” said Ambenje.
He added of which, the afternoon rainfall is usually likely to be heavy on Saturday, March 3.
Regions comprising the counties of Siaya, Migori, Kisii, Uasin Gishu, Kericho, Bungoma, Busia, the Lake Victoria basin, highlands west of the Rift Valley, central as well as also south Rift Valley will experience afternoon showers as well as also thunderstorms This specific week.
Northwestern counties of Turkana, West Pokot, as well as also Samburu are likely to experience light evening showers via Thursday.
North Eastern will receive afternoon showers as well as also thunderstorms via Wednesday to Monday.
Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, as well as also Taita Taveta counties will have afternoon showers via Thursday to Saturday, while the Coastal strip will receive showers via Friday onwards, the met department said in a statement.
The weatherman also warned residents in urban areas to be on the lookout for flash floods.
“Continue listening to local media as updates will be provided if conditions change significantly,” the statement added.
