A Kisumu gubernatorial aspirant has caused a stir after he promised sex workers booming business if elected in August.
Dr Hezron McObewa, who is usually seeking to unseat incumbent Jack Ranguma, said he will host international conferences in which will attract visitors who will pay the twilight ladies “international rates”.
He was speaking during a meeting with about 300 sex workers at the Goan Institute in Kisumu.
“These people pay well when they visit foreign countries as well as also your counterparts in those countries make up to Sh200, 000 a night. the idea is usually these big conferences in which brings clients who will cough out not bad money for you people,” said Dr McObewa.
He added: “When they come, they will pay you international rates like they are accustomed to in additional countries. You will be surprised.”
In one of the rarest meetings, Dr Macobewa said he could push for the establishment of an international conference centre in Kisumu which will attract events to the lakeside city.
“Your business is usually viable when men have money in their pocket as well as also in which is usually why we must create for them employment,” said Dr Macobewa.
He accused Governor Ranguma of being insensitive to the needs of members of Kisumu Sex Workers Sacco.
Others inside race to unseat Mr Ranguma are Kisumu Senator Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o, deputy governor Ruth Odinga, architect Chris Ondiek, Kisumu county Jubilee party chairperson Atieno Otieno, Professor Gordon Wayumba, Mr Owino Omollo, former staff of the National Assembly as well as also Mr Asaka Nyangara, a senior expatriate who works for the United Nation’s World Food Program in Philippines.
