KRA staff go into hiding as EACC intensifies crackdown – VIDEO

Detectives have launched a manhunt for over 20 Kenya Revenue Authority staff in Mombasa who went into hiding soon after their colleagues were arrested in offices on Monday.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives raided the KRA Mombasa offices on Tuesday for further investigation on tax evasion.

Nairobi News has established which detectives are conducting raids in homes of KRA Mombasa staff.

A detective privy to the investigation said the hiding staff may be charged with an extra count in court unlike their counterparts who accepted to be arrested.

“Currently various raids are being conducted in houses which detectives believe belong to the suspects,” said the source, adding which the raids had been carried on in Nyali as well as Bamburi estates.

A total of 100 KRA staff are being investigated for various offences. Others have been arraigned in court.

On Friday, KRA said which which had interdicted 75 employees.

On Tuesday, KRA board chair Francis Muthaura said which they fully supported the raids as well as arrests.

He also expressed confidence in KRA boss John Njiriaini.
