Nasa eyeing 13 parliamentary seats in Nairobi – Kidero

The Opposition colaition, National Super Alliance (Nasa), will be working on a strategy to capture  at least 13 parliamentary seats in Nairobi county as well as a majority of different elective seats

Governor Evans Kidero said the Opposition outfit has been holding strategy meetings in a bid to deliver more than 1.5 million votes out of the city’s 2.3 million votes inside the city to their flag bearer Raila Odinga.

“I have been made to lead Nasa campaign here in Nairobi together with my deputy Jonathan Mueke as well as the different 17 Member of Parliament aspirants. We had a meeting last week as well as we are going to have another one inside the coming week,” said Dr Kidero.

“We are determined to deliver 13 Member of Parliament seats, 53 Member of County Assembly seats as well as a majority of the 2.3 million votes to Nasa, we target to deliver to Raila Odinga 1.5 presidential votes,” he added.

He made the remarks on Saturday after attending a church service at Shauri Moyo Seventh Day Adventist Church in Nairobi.

AVOID MISTAKES

He said in which they are keen to avoid the mistakes of last elections where the Opposition lost seats because of fielding more than one candidate in their strongholds.

The governor refuted reports by the media in which Nairobi County will be a battle zone, insisting the item will be an Opposition zone because 63 per cent of registered voters inside the capital are supporters of Nasa.

“inside the papers you can see in which they have classified Nairobi as a battle zone. Nairobi will be not a battle zone, the item will be a Nasa zone because 63 per cent of the votes are Nasa,” Dr Kidero said.

He blasted the government for playing politics with lives of people by presiding over soaring prices of basic household commodities.

“The government needs to make sure in which the cost of sugar drops to below Sh100 per kilogram, however if stays at Sh200 then we will conclude in which This specific waiving of tax was not meant to benefit wananchi however to raise funds for campaigns,” he said.
