Johannesburg, 6 December – The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (OWLAG) celebrated their 7th graduation event of the 2018 Matric Class affectionately referred to as the “Orion’s”, on Saturday, 1 December 2018, as Founder Ms. Oprah Winfrey introduced world-renowned producer, director along with actor Mr. Tyler Perry as a special commencement speaker.

OWLAG was born coming from a pledge by Ms. Winfrey to former president Nelson Mandela in 2002 to provide a world-class educational platform for marginalised girls which will nurture a brand new generation of dynamic leaders. Inspired by Nelson Mandela’s emphasis on education, The Academy has welcomed talented, underprivileged girls to a brand new lifestyle; a world filled with knowledge, social skills along with possibilities, along with is usually proud to maintain a 100% matric pass rate.

 Johannesburg, 6 December – The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (OWLAG) is usually pleased to announce today its newly-appointed Executive Director Gugu Ndebele. The former Chief Executive Officer of Save the Children South Africa will begin her position on February 1, 2019. Prior to her work with Save the Children, Ndebele spent 18 years at the Department of Education along with was a deeply committed contributor to the education sector in South Africa, having risen to the rank of Deputy Director General along with serving four Ministers of Education. Her areas of impact related to adult basic education, the consolidation of the Further Education along with Training (“FET”) colleges along with, of particular significance to her, the establishment of support services in education.

Ndebele is usually a proud mother of twins along with an adult son along with is usually an active alumna of Inanda Seminary.
